British Columbia/Canada – Port Alberni Freemasons donate to SD70 memorial bursary

Members of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasons Canada have donated $1,000 to the Brayden Arsenault Memorial Bursary. School District 70 trustee Chris Washington accepted the donation on behalf of the district. The Freemasons submitted a proposal to their national arm requesting one of several donations available for charitable organizations. “Because of the importance of this locally, I was able to write a proposal,” said spokesperson Craig Wolverton. Mason Lodge Barkley Lodge No. 90 has previously supported Faydra Arsenault’s fundraising efforts. There are two bursaries available to ADSS graduates and they were set up by the Arsenault family to honour their son and brother who died two and a half years ago. “We have already been able to help five people out,” said Brayden’s mother Faydra. Ireland – Connaught Freemasons raise for SWALLOW

Following on from Connaught Freemason’s Christmas Dinner at which a festive hamper was auctioned for the benefit of the ‘SWALLOW’ Charity, we went to their café at The Hive in Peasedown St John on Tuesday, 16th January to present a cheque for £200. £100 having been raised at the auction and a further £100 from the Lodge Charity Fund. Somerset/England – Chard Freemasons present £920 cheques to local charities

Chard Freemasons have presented cheques of £460 each to The Alzheimer’s Society, as well as Somerset and Chard & District Riding for the Disabled. Worshipful Brother, Martyn Millward, of Prudence and Industry Lodge, handed over the donations to charity representatives. Mr Millward commented that he and his wife Lynne were keen to lend their support to local charities, especially those close to their own hearts. North Wales – Freemasons donate £10,000 to autism charity

The organisation donated the funds to Your Space, a charity based in Llay which supports young people with autism. A £5,000 donation from North Wales Freemasons Charity (NWFC) was match funded by £5,000 from the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF). The charity runs events and activities including a teens club, expressive arts, family days out and holiday clubs. Providing a network of support for families through their Outreach Team and Family Support Service, Your Space has a wide reach across Wrexham and beyond. Sussex/England – Freemasons plan new restaurant to bring Brighton its first Michelin star in 40 years

Brighton’s Masons are planning to open two fine dining restaurants in its city centre lodge, with the aim of getting a Michelin star within two years. The Sussex Masonic Club has applied to turn the ground floor and basement of its Queens Road headquarters into a restaurant, with a three bedroom flat on the third floor. The first and second floor would continue to be used as a Masonic lodge. The application, written by Robert Saunders of RSP Architects, says that in the last 40 years, membership of the branch has fallen by half from 10,000 to 5,000, and are likely to fall even further. Portugal – New head of English Freemasons

Pierre Caeiro has been appointed the new head of the English Freemasons in Portugal. He was invested during a meeting of the Lagos based Lodge of Discoveries held at the Tivoli Hotel, Lagos on Thursday 18th January. The ceremony was attended by Derek Tilbury who is the District Grand Master of the District Grand Lodge of Gibraltar. Derek invested Pierre on behalf of the United Grand Lodge of England. Also, in attendance was Paulo Rola the Deputy Grand Master of Grande Loja Legal de Portugal, GLLP, the Portuguese Freemasons. English Freemasonry has been practised in Portugal since 1990 under the governance of the United Grand Lodge of England, UGLE. It has grown steadily since and there are now four Lodges and three Royal Arch Chapters, operating across the Algarve and the Greater Lisbon area. California/US – Imperial Valley Masonic Lodge Installs Officers for 2024-25

The officers for the 2024-2025 year for the Free and Accepted Masons of the Imperial Valley Lodge 390 were installed at the lodge’s annual ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 20. Tony Milanes, will serve as Master of Lodge, and continue his leadership of the multinational and interstate lodge with close connections to Mexicali and Yuma, according to a press release. Milanes led a binational project to “twin” the Imperial Valley Lodge with Palingenesia Lodge 46 of Mexicali, which became the first United States Masonic lodge to do so. In other lodge installations, Brother Ira Hearen became the Junior Warden (similar to a vice president), while Brother Steven Dagdag was appointed the chaplain, L’evangelist Pittman was installed as the Junior Deacon and James Storms was installed as the Senior Steward.
