Scotland – Why the Grand Master quit organisation for good after pledging to modernise ‘the craft’
A SCOTS Freemasons insider has revealed the real reason why the former leader quit suddenly. The Rev Canon Dr Joseph Morrow took over as Grand Master of The Freemasons of Scotland last year. The 69-year-old had pledged to modernise “the craft” when he began to head up the Grand Lodge, founded in 1736, last November. Spain – Costa del Sol Freemasons show support for functional diversity
The Masonic Lodge of Friendship 37 in Los Boliches has made a donation of 1,000 euros to Fuensocial, a Costa del Sol-based association of parents of people with functional diversity that was founded in 1982. The Freemasons lodge donates a considerable amount of money each year to local charities, although Fuensocial is its main charity recipient. Several of the brothers from the lodge visited the charity’s Fuengirola branch earlier this week to present the cheque, after which, they were given a tour of the “marvellous facilities”. Getting to hang out with his friends is a benefit of being in the Butler chapter of the DeMolay for 12-year-old Jameson Curran, but the service he performs as a member of the group is a positive, too. South Wales – Freemasons offers support to youngsters affected by domestic abuse
Seventy-five children from families where domestic abuse has been a factor, and where the families have chosen to stay together, will receive support thanks to a grant from South Wales Freemasons to the Calan Domestic Violence Services charity. The £55,000 grant will fund a children and young people’s worker who will support the delivery of Calan’s Inspiring Families Programme, which aims to develop trust and motivation in the non-abusive parent so they will have a clearer understanding of the impact that the abuse has had on the way they think. South Australia – Freemasons donate $100k to Lions Hearing Dogs
A $100,000 donation from the Murray Bridge Freemasons Lodge will help Lions hearing dogs undergo vital training to help people with hearing impairments. The donation, last Wednesday, resulted from a collaboration between the Murray Bridge Lodge and Freemasons SA and NT. Lions Hearing Dogs provide assistance dogs to people with hearing impairments. Illinois/US – Masons Donate to Groups that Feed and Clothe Children
James Peplow II, the presiding officer of Olive Branch 38 Masonic Lodge presented donation checks from the lodge and matching grant checks from the Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program or IMCAP, to representatives of Rose’s Food for the Children and Fair Hope Children’s Ministry, before the lodge meeting Tuesday October 15, 2024. The checks totaled $1000 to each organization. The lodge has supported each of these organizations in the past and fully believes in the mission of each of them. Rose’s Food for the Children provides weekend meals for food insecure elementary and middle school aged children during the school year. London/England – Teddington Riding Charity Supports Disabled with Help from Freemasons
Park Lane Stables (PLS) is an award-winning RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) centre with a wide programme of activities, including assisted riding, horse care, carriage driving, equine therapy and hippotherapy. Based in Teddington in southwest London, it is one of the few remaining urban stables in Greater London with horses and humans alike at the heart of the local community. The £10,000 grant from the London Freemason charity has enabled PLS to allow members of our team to attend a specific training course to upskill and become qualified counsellors, enabling them to offer more services to more people who otherwise might be waiting for mental health intervention. The impact of this is immeasurable as the outcome without intervention is unthinkable. For example, a parent contacted PLS regarding their teenage daughter who would not leave the house but had expressed an interest in horses.
